The Accounting and Auditing Standards Board of Bhutan (AASBB) is governed by a Board, led by the Chairperson, who is appointed by the Minister of Finance along with the other Board members. The Board elects a Vice-Chairperson from among its members.

mandates

  • Adopt and issue Accounting and Auditing Standards consistent with International Accounting Standards (IAS), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) and International Standards on Auditing.
  • Appoint Technical Working Committee to perform detailed research or other works related to Accounting & Auditing Standards.
  • Ensure that the standards setting process is appropriate and responsive to the public interest.
  • Hold public consultations to discuss on the proposed standards.
  • Establish procedure for reviewing the comments received from various quarters within a reasonable period on the documents published for comments.
  • Represent Bhutan in the international events in the areas of Accounting and Auditing Standards.
  • Prepare a strategy to put AASBB on a self-sustaining basis and enhance the institutional capacity.
